Wang Jun, director of the micro optoelectronic laboratory of Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (SIOM), Chinese Academy of Sciences; Liu Peng, Secretary of the Party branch and deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of laser physics; Jin Lihui, Secretary of the Youth League Committee of the SIOM; Li Kai, Secretary of the Party committee of the School; Hu Bingwen, deputy dean and Jiang Xu, deputy secretary of the Party committee attended. The event was hosted by Hu Bingwen.
Li Kai, on behalf of the college, first congratulated the students who won the scholarship, and expressed the thanks to SIOM who cared for and supported the cultivation of top talents of the School for many years. She said that 'scholarships are not only material awards, but also spiritual incentives'. She hoped that students would cherish honor, learn lifelong, and make greater progress in study and scientific research in the future.
Wang Jun and Liu Peng respectively introduced the basic information of SIOM, and made special reports on the basic research of nano-materials and the development process of ultra-short laser. At the same time, the two researchers said that they welcome the excellent students of the School to actively participate in the scientific research projects of SIOM, and take SIOM as one of the high-quality platforms for further study.
Subsequently, the guests presented the award certificate of 'Shangguang scholarship' to Jiang Ying, Du Chenming and Liu Chenyu of the 2018 elite students, and to Yuan Zifeng, Yiwen Miao and Huang Rong of the 2017 elite students.
Jin Lihui said that there is a long history of cooperation between SIOM and the School of Physics and Electronic Science. The original intention of setting up 'Shangguang scholarship' is to support outstanding students majoring in physics to participate in all kinds of innovative and entrepreneurial programs and become innovative talents for future. She hoped that this award would continue to deepen the cooperation.
After the award ceremony, Huang Rong, the representative of the 'Shangguang Scholarship' award-winning students, shared their experiences and insights of her scientific research activities at SIOM.
