Optoelectronic Information Science and Engineering is a new undergraduate program established under the background of the rapid development of the Internet of Things, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence technologies, and the Moore's Law bottleneck of traditional integrated circuits technology. This program covers the fundamental theories and applications of optoelectronic information processing, photodetection, optoelectronic display, lighting, photovoltaics, optical communication, optical information storage, optical computing technology and optoelectronic system design. It aims to cultivate students with innovative consciousness, broad knowledge and practical skills. They will become qualified professionals capable of scientific research, technology development and application, product design and manufacturing, and operation management in the fields of optoelectronic information detection, storage, processing, transmission and display technology and etc.
After graduation, the students can enter the professions related to the optoelectronic display, lighting, photodetection, optical communications, optoelectronic measurement and control, laser processing, photovoltaics, information storage and artificial intelligence. Candidate companies include Huawei, BOE, Samsung, LG, Hanergy, JA Solar, Intel, Qualcomm, IBM, Freescale, Huahong, etc. Aspiring students can continue to pursue master and doctoral degrees in electronic engineering, optoelectronic engineering, optical engineering, communication and information systems and other related disciplines.
The undergraduate study of this program takes usually four years. After completing all the courses, the student will be awarded a bachelor degree in engineering.
