In the afternoon of May 13, accompanied by classics and famous works, the cloud sharing meeting for teachers and students jointly read was held on the online platform hosted by the University's science and engineering Party committee and the student work department and organized by the Youth League Committee of the school of physics and electronic science. Hu Bingwen, vice president of the school of physics and electronic science, and Wang Tao, associate professor, as the guide, gathered in the cloud with more than 120 teachers and students from the whole school to read the brief history of time. Wang Yuanli, Secretary of the Youth League Committee of the College of physics and electronic science, presided over the meeting.




In the reading guide, Wang Tao analyzed the readability and popularization of the brief history of time by comparing with the famous works such as dream of the red chamber and the book of changes. After that, he elaborated the book's academic views from three aspects: version difference, specific content, cosmology and so on. Wang Tao pointed out that the book is mainly divided into several modules of relativity, quantum theory, cosmology, black hole science and string theory. The first two modules correspond to the two great achievements of physics in the 20th century, and the last three modules contain Hawking's own academic achievements.In the interpretation of cosmology module, Wang Tao introduces the process of the origin and expansion of the universe in a brief history of time, and vividly explains the concepts of the singularity and virtual time of the universe elaborated by Hawking in the book. At the same time, Wang Tao also shared his original views on the classic works: we should not only feel the author's thoughts from a macro perspective, but also insight into its subtleties from a micro perspective, so as to achieve the state of knowing and laughing happily.

Hu Bingwen introduced three grand questions of what is the universe, where the universe comes from and where the universe will go in a brief history of time, and discussed the metanarrative problem of physics with his classmates.
